Field Design

Use Field Design to manage the fields inside one form.

What You Can Do

In Field Design, you can:

  • create fields
  • edit fields
  • enable or disable fields
  • hide fields
  • delete fields
  • search fields
  • set the identifier field
  • configure member rules for supported forms

Field Information

Each field includes base settings and type-specific settings.

Base settings include:

  • field name
  • field API name
  • flags such as required, readonly, disabled, and hidden

Type-specific settings depend on the field type. For example:

  • select-style fields define options
  • search and foreign-key style fields define related targets
  • summary and dynamic formula fields define calculation behavior
  • media fields define upload behavior
  • organization, department, and member fields define subject selection behavior

The page also shows summary information, such as:

  • identifier field
  • required field count
  • enabled field count
  • disabled field count
  • hidden field count
  • readonly field count

Supported Field Types

The current field design flow supports a wide range of field types, including:

  • text and long text
  • number
  • switch
  • date and time fields
  • select and multi-select
  • member, department, and organization
  • search and multi-search
  • foreign key
  • summary
  • dynamic formula
  • file, image, video, and audio
  • location

Summary And Formula Support

The field design flow includes support for:

  • summary fields
  • dynamic formula fields

These field types are part of the field design surface and may also trigger related recalculation jobs after changes.

Identifier Field

Each form should have one identifier field.

The identifier field is used as the main record label and must remain visible and enabled.

Member Rules

For supported forms, member rules map business fields to record subjects.

This is used when field values such as member, department, or organization should affect who becomes a subject on the record.
