Charts
Charts visualize dimensions and measures from datasets. Before creating a chart, prepare at least one available dataset.
Create A Chart
- Go to Visualization
- Click Create, then choose Chart
- In Select Dataset, choose a dataset
- Enter the chart editor
- Configure the chart type, fields, filters, and display style
- Click Save
- Enter the chart name and choose a folder
- Click Save to finish
If no dataset is available, the system asks you to prepare a dataset before creating a chart.
List Actions
The chart list shows charts, folders, and update time.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Open | Opens the chart editor |
| Move | Moves the chart to a folder or the root folder |
| Delete | Deletes the chart. A confirmation dialog appears first, and deletion cannot be undone |
Double-click a chart row to open it. Double-click a folder row to expand or collapse it.
Folders
Folders help organize charts.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Create Folder | Click Create > Folder, enter a folder name, and create it |
| Move Chart | Choose Move from chart actions, then select a target folder |
| Delete Folder | Choose how to handle charts inside the folder before deleting |
When deleting a folder, choose one handling mode:

Changing the chart type adjusts the available field slots.
Configure Field Slots
In Data Config, place dataset fields into slots. Slots vary by chart type.
| Chart Type | Fields To Configure |
|---|---|
| Bar and line charts | X-axis dimension, color group, Y-axis measures |
| Pie and funnel charts | Category dimension, category color, measure |
| Scatter charts | X-axis measure, Y-axis measure, bubble size, category color, detail |
| Metric card | Measure |
| Radar chart | Category dimension and comparison measures |
| Gauge | Current measure and target measure |
| Report | Report fields. Dimensions and measures can both be selected |
Fields have two roles:
| Role | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Dimension | Used for category, group, axis, color, or filter |
| Measure | Used for numeric values, axis, size, or core metric |
When a slot allows only one field, select one field. When it supports multiple measures, multiple measures can be displayed together.
For slots that support ordering, such as Y-axis measures and Report Fields, drag selected fields up or down to adjust their display order. In reports, right-click a selected report field and choose Merge Items to merge adjacent rows with the same value in that column. Choose Unmerge Items to show every row value separately again.
Reports
Choose Report when you need a detail table instead of an aggregated chart.
- Choose Report in Data Configuration
- In Data Config, add fields to Report Fields
- Drag selected report fields to adjust the column order
- Add filters when you need to limit the rows
- Configure the base record limit to control how many detail rows are queried
- Save the report
Reports use table preview by default. They query detail rows from the dataset, so selected fields are used as table columns instead of chart axes or measures.
| Operation | Description |
|---|---|
| Add Fields | Select dimensions or measures from the dataset field picker |
| Reorder Columns | Drag selected report fields up or down to change the table column order |
| Merge Items | Right-click a selected report field and choose Merge Items to merge adjacent rows with the same value |
| Unmerge Items | Right-click a merged field and choose Unmerge Items to restore separate row values |
| Export Data Table | Export the current report table when permission allows |
Filters
In Data Config, add filters and save them as one or more filter groups. Filter groups are useful for common query scopes such as "In Approval", "Not Approved", "This Month", or "Key Regions".
- Click Add Filter
- Select a dataset field
- Set the condition and value
- Save the filter
- Enter the filter name
Filters affect the current chart query. Saved filter groups appear in the left filter list and next to the chart title in the preview area. Click a filter group above the chart to switch between groups. The preview refreshes using the selected group.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Drag a filter group | Reorder saved filter groups in the left filter list |
| Edit | Open the filter dialog to edit the group name and saved conditions |
| Delete in the dialog | Removes the filter group from the chart |
| Lock | Uses the saved conditions and prevents temporary edits above the chart |
| Unlock | Allows temporary edits above the chart |
Each filter group has its own lock state. The left filter list and the filter group above the chart both show the lock icon: a red lock means Lock filters, and a green unlock icon means Unlock filters.
When a filter group is locked, the chart header only allows switching between filter groups. The conditions cannot be edited temporarily. Use this for standard scopes that should stay fixed.
When a filter group is unlocked, right-click the filter group above the chart and choose Edit Filter. Adjust the conditions in the dialog, then click Apply Filter. Temporary filters affect only the current preview. They do not overwrite the saved filter group and are not saved to the database with the chart. Refreshing the page or reopening the chart restores the saved conditions.
To turn a temporary adjustment into the chart's saved filter, click the edit button in the left filter list, edit the group in the dialog, and save it there.
Data Limit
In Data Config, configure the base record limit.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| By Updated At | Takes recent records by update time before aggregation |
| By Created At | Takes recent records by creation time before aggregation |
| Base Record Count | Controls the base record range used for aggregation |
For large datasets, use a base record count to improve preview and loading speed.
Drill Down
Bar, line, pie, and funnel charts support drill-down analysis.
- Configure the root dimension, such as X-axis or category
- Enable Drill Down
- Select drill-down dimensions
- Click a category in the preview chart to enter the next dimension
Drill-down dimensions cannot duplicate the root dimension. Use this to move from overview to detail, such as region to city to customer.
Comparison
Bar and line charts support period comparison.
Comparison requires a time dimension. After placing a time field into a dimension slot, right-click the selected field to open the configuration menu, then choose the comparison mode and period.
The flow is:
- Choose a bar or line chart
- Select a date or datetime field in the X-axis dimension
- Right-click the selected time field
- Choose Comparison
- Choose Period over Period or Year over Year, then choose the comparison period
After enabling it, compare current data with the previous period or the same period last year.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Period over Period | Compares with the previous period |
| Year over Year | Compares with the same period last year |
| Auto | Lets the system choose a suitable period from the time dimension |
Display Configuration
In Visual Config, adjust chart appearance.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Chart Name | Chart title and default save name |
| Description | Saved as the chart description |
| Show Title | Controls whether the title appears in preview |
| Show Legend | Controls whether the legend appears |
| Legend Position | Sets legend position to top, right, bottom, or left |
| Show Label | Controls whether data labels appear |
| Palette | Changes the chart color theme |
Some chart types provide extra display settings, such as bar radius, label size, mark lines, mark points, or zoom.
Binding Script
When the dataset has computed fields whose value source is Studio Script, use a chart binding script to write script results into those fields.
To understand script-backed computed fields first, see Computed Field Usage.
The flow is:
- Open Binding Script
- Select a Studio script
- Configure Match Fields when needed
- In Assignments, choose a computed field and enter the script result field
- Click Run Script
- Confirm the preview result, then save the chart
The binding script receives the current aggregated chart data. Returned values are written into mapped computed fields.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Match Fields | Match dataset fields with script result fields so values are written to the correct category or group |
| Assignments | Choose which script result field writes into which computed field |
| Run Script | Runs the current binding script and refreshes the preview |
Without match fields, script results are applied as global results. This is useful for single-row totals or metric cards.
Save A Chart
Click Save to open the save dialog.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Chart Name | Name shown in the chart list |
| Folder | Where the chart is saved. Choose root or an existing folder |
After saving, the chart appears in the chart list. Opening and saving it again updates the existing chart.
View And Export
After configuration, use the preview area on the right.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| View Data | Switches to the data table and shows query results |
| View Chart | Switches back to chart preview |
| Export Chart | Exports the current chart image when permission allows |
| Export Data Table | Exports the current data table when permission allows |
If preview query fails, check dataset fields, filters, field slots, or binding script configuration.
For chart-level access setup and permission operation steps, see Chart Permissions.
