Before You Install

Use the Soln desktop installer on the computer that will run your workspace. It obtains the deployment package, downloads and verifies the required Node.js and Cosign versions, and runs the bundled CLI. You do not need to install these tools or configure their PATH yourself. Local certificates are generated by Soln; OpenSSL is not required.

What you need to prepare

ItemRequirement
ComputerChoose an available installer for your system and processor on the download page. Mac has Apple silicon and Intel packages; the current Windows package is x64.
DockerInstall and start Docker Desktop on Mac or Windows. Linux can use Docker Engine with Compose v2 and Buildx.
StorageEnable encryption on the disk containing the deployment directory. Allow room for tenant data, backups, and Docker images; 10 GiB free is a starting recommendation, and actual requirements depend on the release and data.
AccountUse a tenant member account with deployment permission. Create a workspace first if needed, or ask its administrator for access.
NetworkThe computer must reach the Soln Control Plane and the download and image addresses shown in the installation log. Keep the system clock synchronized.

Prepare only the settings for your system:

Why Disk Encryption Is Required

The tenant database, files, and workflow data stay on this computer. Disk encryption protects stored data when the disk is locked. Soln checks the selected deployment location before installing; it does not enable disk encryption for you.

SystemWhere to enable encryption
macOSSystem Settings → Privacy & Security → FileVault; separately encrypt an external volume if you install there.
WindowsManage BitLocker or Settings → Privacy & security → Device encryption. The selected volume must be fully encrypted with protection on.
LinuxUse LUKS for the filesystem containing the deployment directory.

Local access and certificates

The workspace runs on this computer and is accessed through an HTTPS *.localhost address. Soln selects an available port; use the address it displays.

On macOS and Windows, installation adds the local root certificate to your user's trust store. Approve a system prompt when shown. On Linux, import <deployment directory>/certs/soln-local-root-cert.pem into your browser or system trust store if prompted; trust is not added automatically.
