Summary

Summary fields aggregate values from records related to the current form. They are useful when a parent record needs to show statistics or selected values from child or related records.

Use a summary field for values such as child record count, order total, average score, latest activity time, combined tags, or whether all related items meet a condition.

Basic Settings

RequiredRequires the calculated result to exist before the record can be saved
ReadonlyShows the calculated result but prevents manual editing
DisabledMakes the field unavailable for normal use
HiddenStores the calculated result while hiding it from normal form pages

Summary Field Config

Configuration Tips

TipDescription
Start with the relation tableIf the relation table is wrong, all later summary settings will produce the wrong result
Match function and target typeNumeric functions need numeric fields, and boolean functions need boolean fields
Use prefix and suffix for displayThey help users read money, percentages, quantities, and units
Keep help text specificExplain the source records and function, such as "Sum of approved order line amounts"
