Computed
Computed fields produce values from existing data instead of relying on direct user input.
Use computed fields when a field should reflect related records or a formula result. The final data type can be string, number, boolean, date, datetime, array, or object depending on the field configuration.
Common Uses
| Use | Examples |
|---|---|
| Related record statistics | Count child records, sum order lines, get latest follow-up time |
| Derived values | Calculate risk level, build display text, compute overdue state |
| Reusable business logic | Keep calculated results visible on the form and available to lists, reports, and integrations |
Computed Field Types
| Field Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Summary | Aggregate values from records that reference the current form |
| Dynamic Formula | Calculate a value from a formula expression |
Recalculation
Summary and dynamic formula fields may trigger recalculation jobs after their definition or related data changes. When a job is running, Field Design shows progress in the field list.
