Relation Page

The relation page is the record picker that opens from a relation or search field. It lists the records of the related form so the member can pick one instead of typing an identifier.

Where It Opens

EntryDescription
Relation fieldThe picker button of a search or relation field of the form
Child tableAdd with Search or Batch Add on a child table
New or edit pageThe same picker while filling in the form

The picker only lists the records that the field allows, so the data range of the field also applies here.

Pick A Record

  1. Search for the record: choose All or a single field as the search scope, or use batch search with one keyword per line
  2. Narrow the list with the filter tags of the form, or with the filter of one column
  3. Look at the columns that the table view defines for the relation scope
  4. Pick the record: a single-select field returns the record as soon as a row is selected, and a multi-select field keeps the selection until you confirm
  5. For a multi-select field, use Select All, Clear Selection, and the selection summary before selecting Confirm
  6. Close leaves the picker without changing the field

Configure The Relation Table

The columns, groups, borders, row numbers, locked columns, and field totals of the picker come from a custom table view whose scope includes Relation Page.

  1. Open Custom Table on the list page of the related form
  2. Set the fields, the groups, and the table options
  3. Switch on Relation Page in the scope of the view and save
  4. The picker uses that layout from then on; without such a view it uses the default field order of the form

The buttons of the picker, including its toolbar, batch actions, and row actions, are configured in Button Design under the relation search placements.

Enabled field totals appear at the lower left of the picker pagination area. They include all records matching the current search, filters, and the relation field's permitted data range, across pages. See Field Totals for supported fields and formatting.
