Canvas and Components
The canvas arranges fields and components. Open a layout for editing, select Components in the left activity bar, and drag an available component onto the canvas. Availability depends on the page type and editing state.
Choose a Component
| Component | Purpose | Where it can be added |
|---|---|---|
| Field Group | Organizes related fields into a visual section | An open, editable layout |
| Related Form | Shows records from other forms that reference the current record in the page body | View layouts |
| View Page Sidebar | Configures the right-side menus and related form entries | Default and view layouts; one per layout |
Use a related form in the page body to read it alongside the main fields. Use a sidebar entry to switch between related records and discussion while keeping the main record open.
Field Group
- Drag Field Group onto the canvas.
- Drag fields into the group or move them between groups.
- Reorder groups to keep related information together.
- Use Hide Field for fields that this page does not need. Restore them from the hidden field list when needed.
Groups affect presentation, not field definitions. Empty groups can serve as placeholders during design.
When deleting a group, choose what happens to its fields:
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Hide all fields in the current group | Moves the fields to this layout's hidden field list |
| Move all fields to the first group | Keeps the fields visible in the first group |
Related Form
A related form shows records in another form whose relation field points to the current record.
For example, a “Follow-ups” form has a search field that references “Customers”. Add “Follow-ups” to the customer view layout to show the follow-ups associated with the customer being viewed.
- Open a layout whose page type is View.
- Drag Related Form onto the canvas.
- Click Add Related Form in the component's upper-left corner.
- Select the related form and relation field, confirm, and save the layout.
Candidates come from Search or Multi-select Relation fields that reference the current form. Check both the form and field names: different fields on the same form represent different relationships.
If no candidates are available, first configure a relation field on another form that references the current form. Removing the component removes its display configuration without deleting relation fields or records.
View Page Sidebar
The sidebar configures additional views on the right of a record's view page. Add it to a default or view layout. Once a sidebar component exists, its add entry is disabled.
- Drag View Page Sidebar onto the canvas.
- Reorder entries in its preview, or use Move to Top for a frequently used entry.
- Use Hide Menu to hide an entry and Show Menu to restore it.
- Click Add Form at the bottom to select a related form and relation field when needed.
- Save the layout and open a record that matches it.
Built-in Menus
| Menu | Contents |
|---|---|
| Approval Records | Approval nodes, decisions, and comments |
| Automation Tasks | Automation executions and pending tasks |
| Member Permissions | Record access and its sources |
| Change History | Record operations and field changes |
Hiding an entry changes presentation. It does not delete approvals, tasks, or logs, or grant or revoke permissions.
Add a Related Form Entry
Use Add Form to select a search or multi-select relation field that references the current form. Reorder, move to top, or hide the new entry alongside the built-in menus. You can also remove it from the sidebar configuration.
For example, adding “Follow-ups” to a customer's sidebar lets members view follow-ups, create related records, and discuss records from the customer view page. See View Page for the available actions. The component does not bypass existing form or record permissions.
Foreign-key Table Area
When foreign-key tables are available, view, create, and edit layouts can also contain a foreign-key table component to position child table content. This differs from Related Form: a child table holds detail records, while a related form uses a search or multi-select relation to find records referencing the current record.
The layout's page type, priority, and scope determine which configuration a member sees. See Design Notes.
